For questions about passports, nationality, visas etc, please contact Consular Affairs. Opening hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 until 12:30. Friday from 9.00 until 12.00. Consular Affairs can be reached by phone from Monday through Thursday between 13.30 and 14.30.

In 2009 the Embassy will be closed on the following days: January 1, April 8 (closed from 13:00), April 9, April 13, April 14 (closed from 13:00), April 15, April 28 (closed from 13:00), April 29, April 30, May 5, May 21, May 28 (closed from 13:00), May 29, June 1, September 28, December 25. 

In 2010 the Embassy will be closed on: January 1, January 5, March 29 (closed from 13:00), March 30, April 5, April 19 (closed from 13:00), April 20, April 30, May 5, May 13, May 18 (closed from 13:00), May 19, May 24, September 8 (closed from 13:00), September 9, September 10, September 17 (closed from 12:00), September 22 (closed from 13:00), September 23, September 29 (closed from 13:00), and September 30.

A comprehensive identification law came into effect on January 1, 2005. This means that from this date onwards everybody aged above 14 years and older must now carry and be able to present an original (a copy is not allowed) valid ID document at all times. Not being able to present a valid identity document is an offence. The reason behind this is that the Netherlands government is working for a safe Netherlands so as to push back crime and public disorder.
